Approach to urban planning in Colombia. Notes for a historical understanding. (English)

The purpose of this article is to describe the history of urban planning in Colombia, based on the definition of four fundamental stages that group the characteristics and their evolution in the country. Each stage denotes a set of characteristics that were establishing the practices and the most connoted conditions in that country, according to the national or international tendencies in front of the urbanism processes. Also, there are evidences related to social processes, which do not exclusively define growth or urban expansion as a physical fact, but as an articulation of a number of social variables in the construction of the urban fabric. Este artículo tiene como propósito describir la historia de la planeación urbana en Colombia, a partir de la definición de cuatro etapas fundamentales que agrupan sus características y su evolución en el país. Cada etapa denota un conjunto de particularidades que fueron estableciendo las prácticas y las condiciones más connotadas en dicha nación, de acuerdo con las tendencias nacionales o internacionales frente a los procesos del urbanismo. También, se evidencian características vinculadas a procesos sociales que no definen en exclusividad el crecimiento o la expansión urbana como hecho físico, sino como articulación de una cantidad de variables sociales en la construcción del tejido urbano.
