The U.S. propaganda radio in Barranquilla during the Second World War 1942-1945. (English)

The present article focuses on the operations of the Office of Inter-American Affairs in Colombia during World War II, centring on a broadcasting agenda, to promote North American interests and propaganda, during the period of the Second World War and the participation of the Barranquilla's radio stations in this endeavour. As a strategy of war of the government of The United States, this Office embarked in a short but laborious task of spreading the american ideals on the War, with the mission to search followers and to cast a favourable image of the culture and civilization of North America, addressing the population of the countries of Latin America, besides closing propaganda spaces to the of the Axis, especially the Nazi Germany. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo reconstruir las operaciones de la Oficina de Asuntos Interamericanos en Colombia, centrándose en el uso que le dio a la radiodifusión, para promover intereses propagandísticos norteamericanos, durante el periodo de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y la participación de la radio de Barranquilla en la misma. Como una estrategia de guerra del gobierno de Estados Unidos, esta Oficina se embarcó en una corta pero trabajosa tarea de difundir la idea estadounidense sobre la Guerra, con la misión de buscar seguidores y mostrar una buena imagen de la cultura y la civilización norteamericana, dentro de la mayor parte de la población de los países de América Latina, además de cerrar espacios propagandísticos a los países del Eje, en especial la Alemania Nazi.
