¿La lepra, caridad y degredo o negociaciones de frontera?. / Leprosy, charity and degredo or border negotiations?.

RESUMENEste artículo analiza las tensiones sociales en Cartagena de Indias a mediados del siglo XVIII consecuencia de la proliferación de la Lepra. Dichas tensiones, que parten del imaginario religioso alrededor de este mal, se yuxtaponían con algunas prácticas que evidenciaban formas de asimilación social de enfermos que en teoría debían ser aislados. Por lo tanto, exclusión y asimilación fueron prácticas hacia los leprosos que paradójicamente encuadraron de una manera compleja en la Cartagena colonial. El trabajo tiene tres momentos: el primero menciona algunas explicaciones desde lo teórico y contextual, para, en un segundo momento, abordar la caridad y el degredo como prácticas sociales y así, en tercer lugar, pasar a un análisis de las tensiones desde el concepto de semiosfera de Yuri Lotman.ABSTRACTThis article analyses the social tensions in Cartagena de Indias in the mid-18th century as a result of the proliferation of Leprosy. These tensions, which stem from the religious imaginary around this evil, were juxtaposed with some practices that showed forms of social assimilation of the sick that in theory should be isolated. Therefore, exclusion and assimilation were practices towards the lepers that paradoxically framed in a complex way in the colonial Cartagena. The work has three moments: the first one mentions some explanations from the theoretical and contextual thing, for, in a second moment, to approach charity and degredo as social practices and thus, in third place, to pass to an analysis of the tensions from the concept of semiosphere of Yuri Lotman.
