    • Abstract:
Based in the hydrologic characteristics, several models created with the Stella language were set out to explain the physical andchemical functioning of the Lake Boa, a meandric lake of the River Metá located in the Middle Caquetá Basin at the Colombian Amazon. The first model exhibited the changes in the water column level due to the regional flood pulse. The other models considered the effects that the hydrological pulse causes over the chemical variables in the lake, especially on total phosphorus (TP) and dissolved organic carbon (DOC). The models revealed that the flood pulse was the main force that modified the chemical and physical lake characteristics; however during time that lake is disconnected from the river, the lake gained chemical autonomy and some elements were re-suspended from the sediments, or they were affected by other processes not measured in this study like primary production, bacterial production, and excretion. The development of the models for the TP and the DOC had in consideration the fact that each one of these substances has a determined pattern of movement in the aquatic ecosystem. Some observations with respect to the utility of the models developed in the prediction of the dynamics of the Lake Boa are included.
