    • Abstract:
This article explores funding distributions of the federal government-supported Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA) grants in the United States administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services to state library agencies in support of Spanish language projects to examine if the federal and state-level trends in library funding are responding to changing demographics, specifically the growing Spanish-speaking population. This article notes state library agency projects that explicitly address Spanish-speaking populations, and then compares that funding amounts to the total of the state's Spanish-speaking population. This article offers one strategy for investigating the distribution of LSTA funds for future researchers and highlights the need for more systematic evaluations to address the needs of underserved populations by public libraries in particular, and public institutions at large.
