Abstract: The organization of religious education (RE) at vocational schools is becoming increasingly complex due to growing religious diversity and school organizational conditions. To address this, alternative forms of RE were developed with project schools as part of the Bavarian model project “Strengthening Confessional Religious Education in Vocational Schools”. This project was based on empirical findings on how teachers, students, and headmasters perceive the conditions at their schools. Through a “bottom-up” process, an organizational form of denominational cooperation was identified as an option that makes it possible to respond to local needs with high-quality religious education.
