    • Abstract:
Grain size data for plagioclase in BIPIP basaltic dykes. This data was collected as part of a study of the lateral variation in grain size in dykes that propagated laterally for significant distances (up to 300km) through the shallow crust, with a range of bodies sampled both close to their magmatic source on the NW coast of Scotland, and far from their source (in Northumberland). For each intrusion, a suite of samples was collected across the full width of the body. Plagioclase grain size was measured as the long axis length of every grain intersection in each thin section. In the associated paper, the arithmetic mean of the population of grain sizes in each sample is reported. ; NERC
