One digital video recording and transcript of an oral history interview with India Burton, University of Akron Aluma (Class of 2011) and Producer in Residence at the Cleveland Public Theatre. The interview was conducted remotely using Zoom videotelephony software due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and social distancing protocol. The interview was conducted on April 13, 2020 by University of Akron History students Morgan Stocker and Stephanie Bohnak for The University of Akron's Sesquicentennial Oral History Project. During the interview Burton talks about coming to The University of Akron and being involved in the Theatre Department, particularly devised theater, and working with Story Circles. She also talks about her activities after graduation, including founding the African-American-based theater company Ma'Sue Productions, teaching theater at the Dike School for the Arts, and working as Producer in Residence at the Cleveland Public Theatre. Finally, Burton touches upon the challenges of being African American and a woman on campus.
