    • Abstract:
The death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the Kurdistan region of Iran, sparked widespread protests and condemnation both domestically and internationally. These protests escalated into mass demonstrations across various regions of Iran and the global community. This article examines the role of international media and newspapers in shaping discourses that heightened global awareness of the ongoing human rights violations in Iran. The study employs gender theory and political movement theory as analytical instruments. The research methodology utilized is discourse analysis, with data obtained from news reports published on the official websites of international newspapers. The findings reveal that Mahsa Amini’s death triggered both support and opposition regarding the dress code regulations stipulated by the Iranian government. The discourse constructed by international media further raised public awareness of human rights issues, particularly the discrimination against women, which reinforced the significance of the human rights violations surrounding Mahsa Amini’s case. This tragedy underscores the necessity of reducing discrimination against women in the future, ensuring the achievement of the National Women’s Policy 2030, and advancing the effective enforcement of human rights.
