Abstract: Following the IUGS 79th EC Meeting and Geoscience in Africa event in Nairobi on 19th-23rd February, 2024, where the IUGS Ten Action Plan for Africa (TAP for Africa) was discussed and produced. The plan notes that optimizing findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) geoscience information is essential in Africa, as it is everywhere. We are pleased to have been directed to facilitate work on this theme by IUGS in collaboration with the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf) We are partnering with Queen’s University Belfast and the IUGS Commission for the Management and Application of Geoscience Information (CGI) to host the hybrid 'Status of Geoscience Information in Africa' workshop, 11- 13th February 2025 in Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast, UK. The aim of the workshop is to synthesize a current understanding of this field, to support coming actions by Africa-based colleagues. A Conference Proceedings from extended abstracts, and an Episodes synthesis paper will emerge, which will be proposed for presentation at the Geoscience Information Consortium in Denmark, in June 2025 and CAG30, September 2025, Nairobi, Kenya. We are pleased to have your participation in the 'Status of Geoscience Information in Africa' workshop.
