    • Abstract:
      The processes of regulation and evaluation of state Higher Education Institutions, universities, colleges and higher education centers are regulated by the state education boards in which they are inserted, considering the regional characteristics and autonomy of the states in the sphere of the Higher Education that they off er, while complying with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education and the National Education Council and the National Board of Education, especially the evaluation and regulation processes foreseen for in National Higher Education Evaluation System. In this context, the present work aims to understand the role of the State Board of Education in the evaluation and regulation of Higher Education in the state of Paraná through semi-structured interviews with representatives of the State Board of Education in Paraná. To discuss topics related to evaluation, state education and regulation councils, the discussions were guided by authors such as Dias Sobrinho (2003), Barroso (2005), Cury (2006, 2020), among others.
