The author explores the aftermath of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He mentions the capacity of the country to put on a $12 billion budget despite the worst economic crisis Brazil has faced since the Great Depression. He also notes the extreme Olympic debt despite the claims of International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach that the event would somehow be a debt-free one.
