Psychological operations and intra-state armed conflict in Colombia. (English)

Almost 50 years of massacres organized by non-governmental armed forces define internal dynamics of modern history of Colombia. Violent race for black market profit from illegal drug trade makes this low-intensity conflict so brutal that the South American country can be regarded as a fragile state. The main regional task of the United States is to face drug trafficking using special measures like PSYOPS. The aim of the article is to analyze these measures in the Colombian context representing economic and political background as well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Kolumbia modern történelmének belső dinamikáját a kormányhoz nem tartozó fegyveres erők közel fél évszázados mészárlása határozza meg. A dél-amerikai országot ebből kifolyólag a törékeny államok közé sorolhatjuk. Fő ismertetőjegye, hogy alacsony intenzitású konfliktus sújtja, amit az illegális drogüzletből befolyó feketepiaci profitért történő versengés tesz annyira könyörtelenné. Az Egyesült Államok kiemelt regionális feladata lett, hogy támogassa a drogellenes harcot, melynek teljesítéséhez a pszichológiai műveletek speciális eszköztárát is felhasználja.
