      The article present a report of neuropsychologist Michael McCrea of the Medical College of Wisconsin, U.S. on certain proteins in the blood which are elevated after a concussion. Topics discussed include concussion diagnosis depends upon a careful assessment of symptoms; proteins can serve as a sign that damage has occurred to a different type of brain cell; and release of Glial fibrillary acidic protein in response to injury to glial cells, which provide support to nerve cells in the brain.
