    • Abstract:
The article presents the author's view on what the term "watershed" means to him. According to the author, dictionary compilers, recognize that watersheds actually represent a period rather than an instant between one thing and another. The word comes from geography, in which it describes the high ground between two river systems. According to the author, his dictionary ignores the application of the word watershed to general practice. But there are at least two every day. First, there's the morning watershed, between the moment when the out-of-hours service goes home and when one walks into the surgery and put on the mantle of physician-healer-magician-data entry clerk.
