The article presents alternative approaches for deriving energy contents of noncombustible renewables. It mentions that in order to calculate primary energy consumption U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) compiles data on most energy sources in physical units like barrel and cubic feet; data for different energy sources is converted to common British thermal unit (Btu), and discussed three approaches for converting electricity to Btu.
