- Abstract:
The article discusses research which quantified the risk of tinnitus associated with residential road traffic and railway noise exposure. The study examined road and railway noise at the most- and least-exposed façcades of homes and apartment buildings and the development of tinnitus. Findings revealed the greater effect of transportation noise exposure during sleep on increased risk for tinnitus than daytime exposure. Other factors for tinnitus are anxiety, depression and hearing gloss.
