Strong together for the liturgy: The necessary cooperation in the German-speaking area. (English)

- Abstract:
The article describes the collaboration of the Liturgical Institutes in the German-speaking area, particularly in the liturgical renewal after the Second Vatican Council. The institutes were already established in Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Switzerland before the Council. In 1969, the "International Working Group of Liturgical Commissions in the German-speaking area" was launched to promote collaboration. The close cooperation led to the introduction of the German Missal in 1975. The role of Father Winfried Bachler OSB, the longtime director of the Austrian Liturgical Institute, is particularly emphasized. The collaboration between the institutes and their leaders, as well as the staff, is described as close and trusting, as liturgy is the only field in which collaboration among the bishops' conferences is indispensable.
