    • Abstract:
? CHILDREN experience milder Covid symptoms because the cells in their noses respond to the virus in a different way to those of adults, a study revealed today. Scientists at University College London collected "human nasal epithelial cells" (NECs) from healthy participants of all ages at three hospitals in the capital. They found that, after three days, the NECs of children responded quickly to Covid by increasing anti-viral defence and restricting viral replication. But this effect became less pronounced with age. The team said it could explain why some children have milder symptoms. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
