    • Abstract:
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's domestic agenda is at risk as his party failed to secure an outright majority in parliament. Over the past decade, Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has implemented laws that critics argue have furthered divisive Hindu majoritarian goals. However, with the need to work with a coalition of parties, Modi may have to abandon some of the more controversial social policies his party advocated. These policies include the implementation of a uniform civil code, the creation of a national register of citizens, changes to the military recruitment scheme, the adoption of a "One Nation One Election" strategy, and the conduct of a census and delimitation exercise. Additionally, Modi's party may face challenges regarding affirmative action policies. [Extracted from the article]
