- Abstract:
A factory owned by PepsiCo Inc. that produced Quaker Oats products was shut down in April due to a salmonella outbreak that had been ongoing for up to four years, according to US regulators. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned PepsiCo that closing the facility might not be enough to prevent contamination at its other factories. The recall, which began last year and affected 22 million cases of Quaker Chewy Bars, has had a significant impact on Pepsi's sales. The FDA found salmonella in the factory's floor cracks and discovered that the same strain had been present since at least 2020. The FDA has urged PepsiCo to take further action to prevent persistent contamination in its other facilities. [Extracted from the article]
