    • Abstract:
Floods in Africa are causing widespread displacement and posing risks of dam bursts and disease outbreaks. The heavy rains have affected 14 nations, displacing at least four million people and causing the destruction of farmland. Coastal countries, as well as regions in the Sahel and Sahara Desert, are being impacted. The floods are expected to have long-lasting effects on vulnerable populations, including food insecurity and limited access to safe water and housing. Aid agencies are working to provide relief, but some affected individuals have reported little government assistance. Researchers suggest that climate change may be contributing to the increased frequency of heavy rainfall in the region. [Extracted from the article]
