The heavy rains have affected 14 nations, displacing at least four million people and causing the destruction of farmland. Coastal countries, as well as regions in the Sahel and Sahara Desert, are being impacted. The floods are expected to have long-lasting effects on vulnerable populations, including food insecurity and limited access to safe water and housing.
