    • Abstract:
Two American scientists, Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun, have been awarded the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for their discovery of microRNA, a class of tiny RNA molecules that control gene activity in different types of cells. This discovery has allowed for the specialization and functioning of various cell types in the body. The Nobel Assembly stated that microRNA has been regulating gene activity for hundreds of millions of years and has contributed to the evolution of complex organisms. Ambros is affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, while Ruvkun is associated with Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. [Extracted from the article]
