DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN PHARMACY – ADVANTAGES AND BARRIERS TO THEIR APPLICATION. (English)
- Abstract:
Digital technologies play a key role in the transformation of healthcare, including the pharmaceutical sector. Their integration leads to increased efficiency, safety and personalisation of pharmaceutical care, with a focus on the patient and their quality of life. The aim of this article is to present the positioning of digital technologies in pharmacy and consider some difficulties associated with their application. Material and methods. A documentary method was applied. A literature review was conducted in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases. The research was carried out from February to March 2025 using the following keywords: “digital technologies”, “pharmacy”, “pharmaceutical care”, “patient” and “barriers”. Results. The implementation of digital technologies in the pharmaceutical sector has shown some advantages, such as increased accuracy and safety, increased efficiency of the workflow, improved communication between healthcare professionals and patients, personalised pharmaceutical care, increased patient engagement. Despite the many advantages, digital solutions are accompanied by barriers of various natures. The implementation of digital algorithms necessitates initial investments and finances, and in addition, there is a lack of clearly defined regulations and a legal framework. A barrier for patients is their reluctance to adapt, and for healthcare professionals it is their low digital literacy. Conclusion. Digitalisation in the pharmaceutical sector has the potential to improve the quality of life of patients and the coordination between doctor, pharmacist and patient. For sustainable integration of digital technologies, financial resources, digitally literate pharmaceutical staff, and a stable legal environment are needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
