The article reports on the development of first single-chip radar system by Texas Instruments Inc. in the U.S. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency which funded the work regarded the radar chips as a major milestone. The radar chip is made from gallium arsenide and it is capable of making it possible to squeeze a so-called phased-array radar into an airplane by mounting the chips on the plane's interior skin.
