- Abstract:
The article reports that the U.S. cable television industry has failed to become a classy alternative to television broadcast networks. However, the operators shunned costly original programs and services that needed sophisticated equipment. Hence, cable television became a dumping ground for the rejected programs of the networks, although there are exceptions such as: Nickelodeon, Cable News Network, Discovery, Music Television, Lifetime, and Arts and Entertainment.
