- Abstract:
- Abstract:
This study aims to improve students' understanding of the material of the Cultural Diversity of Indonesian Tribes through the application of the cooperative learning approach type, Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD), assisted by student worksheets. The research involved 32 students from an 8th-grade class at SMP Negeri 10 Malang. The method used was Classroom Action Research (PTK) Kemmis & McTaggart model, which was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data were obtained through observation of student activity, assessment of group work results, and analysis of student worksheets. The results showed an increase in student understanding, marked by the average percentage of completeness from cycle I, which was below the good category (40% - 70%), to 80% - 90% in cycle II. Improvements in learning strategies in cycle II, such as clear division of roles, use of visual media, and directed instructions, were able to encourage the transition of student understanding from the enactive to the iconic and symbolic stages. The application of the STAD model, assisted by student worksheets, proved effective in improving students' understanding as well as active involvement in social studies learning.
