Industry learns lesson the hard way.

The article focuses on implementing information technology (IT) change in the management consultancy industry. EDS Corp. paid £71.25 million compensation to the government for problems with the tax credits systems launched in 2003. EDS will receive around £520 million a year over the next five years. The deal was `realigned' in August 2005 for bringing around 20 contracts into one for EDS and saving DWP millions in costs. There is a need for government to engage earlier with its supplier to learn more about their approach and suppliers need to accept certain contract terms.
