    • Abstract:
      The article offers information on the Chicano Studies/Literature courses that were first offered to students in 2003 at Tucson High Magnet School (THMS) in lieu of American History and Junior English. Since the program's themes and content are based on the history of Chicanos/as in America, the school introduced the Xikano Paradigm, a model based on pre-Columbian philosophy. The students became the program's staunchest supporters and advocates. At present, the school has eleven Raza Studies classes.
