- Abstract:
The article examines a dramatic rise in the price of natural gas. The price of natural gas has risen 93 percent in the U.S. since August, 2007, as developed countries such as Japan and South Korea compete for the product. U.S. prices, however, remain far lower than in other countries, suggesting further increases. Natural gas heats half of U.S. homes and generates 20 percent of its electric power. Further price spikes will damage an already weak economy.
