- Abstract:
The article focuses on the model of competitive economic rivalry in the United Arab Emirates, which has worked well for Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While Abu Dhabi remains the lead emirate and guarantor should a fiscal crisis threaten, each emirate retains a substantial level of autonomy. The appointment of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum as Dubai prime minister represents a development for economic policy-making. The themes of investment strategy are improving government efficiency and strengthening co-operation between the governments.
