Abstract: Gun control is one of the most controversial and emotional issues in many countries, with debate often focusing on whether restrictions on an individual's right to bear arms are a restriction on liberty and whether there is a correlation between guns and crime. Chapter 1 provides an overview of federal firearms background check procedures and an analysis of recent legislative action. Chapter 2 discusses assault weapons and examines options for dealing with these particularly dangerous weapons of war.
