    • Abstract:
The article presents a study on the impact of elective endovascular (EVR) or open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) on the volume-outcome relationship in aneurysm surgery in England between 2005 and 2007. The research is aimed at quantifying the relationship between the annual caseload or volume and outcome for such vascular surgical procedures. It cites the examination of all procedural codes in the Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) to determine EVR cases. Increasing age is said to be a key risk factor for mortality for open surgeries.
