Results of the catalytic system experimentation conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology National Science Foundation researchers are reported. General Electric and Cornell University scientists have created an identification technique that can distinguish the metabolic activity of several bacteria strains. The Agriculture Research Service (ARS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture learned that the camptothecin extract of the Camptotheca tree can halt tumor growth in laboratory animals.
