    • Abstract:
The article discusses real-estate investor Sam Zell. His specialty throughout his career has been purchasing distressed properties with good prospects for recovery, particularly in growing cities. In the aftermath of a real-estate bubble in the U.S. he does not believe there will be many attractive opportunities in distressed real-estate due to low interest rates. Consequently, he is focusing more attention on emerging markets. His private investment company, Equity International, has around $1.5 billion of investments in several emerging markets including Brazil and Colombia.
