- Abstract:
The article discusses S. 380, a full employment bill that was introduced in the United States Senate by four legislators. The rationale is based on continuing the high output of goods and services and the American standard of living--which resulted from industrial mobilization--into the postwar reconversion period. The bill is aimed at avoiding cyclical unemployment in peacetime and organized in two parts: the first establishes the Federal Government's role in making economic policy; and the second defines a framework of procedures where the Government evaluates and solves economic problems. Topics include the right to work, the declaration of a national policy that promotes employment opportunity, and the responsibilities of the executive and legislative branches of government. INSET: Appendix: Text of S. 380.
