      The article reports on the agreement signed by the U. S. and Mexico on November 20, 2012, which permits the two countries to share and manage the Colorado River. It says that under the agreement, which will run for five years, water surpluses and shortages will be shared by both countries. According to the U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, the agreement of the two country is the most significant adjustment to the Colorado River rules since the 1944 treaty.
