    • Abstract:
The article presents a comparative study of Polish communities in the Canadian industrial cities of Arvida, Québec and Sydney, Nova Scotia from the early 20th century to 2012. The author connects the decline of the Polish community in Arvida to a reduction of Anglophone speakers in Québec following the Quiet Revolution, addresses the founding of the Sydney neighborhood of Whitney Pier by Polish immigrants in terms of the future Polish presence in the area, and highlights the role of buildings associated with Polish communities in both cities.
