The article focuses on the six steps in preparing a library for all forms of water damage and flooding. First is to identify the risk and their sources, since many cases of water damage start small. Next steps are to mitigate the risks as much as possible and forming strategic alliances with other libraries and information organizations that could assist the library if the site is flooded. Libraries should also develop flood safety procedures for employees.
