- Abstract:
The contemporary educational landscape is marked by a significant achievement gap between students of Color and their white peers, exacerbated by a standardized testing system. Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) offers a crucial pedagogical approach to bridge this gap by creating more equitable learning environments. This paper draws on the authors' personal and professional experiences to explore CRT's theoretical and practical aspects. The paper examines the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing CRT through a comprehensive literature review, highlighting its potential to transform educational outcomes for diverse student populations. The findings underscore the importance of understanding and integrating students' cultural backgrounds to enhance engagement and academic success. This study advances human knowledge by providing actionable strategies for educators to embed CRT within their classrooms, fostering more inclusive and supportive educational environments.
