Gender Inequality as Shown by Maduraikanji

Kavimani said, "Mama, you need a good month to be born as a bridegroom." But today the atrocities on women are happening to the extent that the eyes of Mother India are bleeding. About the chastity of women, chastity like Arundhati can be seen in many Kalidiya hymns as “Vadameenbol Poshhuthetha Wayangiya Karpali” (Kalidiya:P.2). At that time, only wives married to men lived in bondage. Men have no control. Men married many women. They consorted with prostitutes. They were known as Kanikaiyar, Bharathiyar, Dhilimakalir. Their relationships with men do not last. Hence it was considered as a temporary relationship which should be discarded. This article tries to emphasize that by studying about them and those relationships continuing today, they should not continue, they should be eradicated from the society and the gender equality that prevailed in this society.
