Quo vadis AGMB? Results of the online member survey 2019 and outlook on possible consequences for the AGMB

Traditionally, the yearly conference of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Medizinisches Bibliothekswesen e.V. (German Medical Library Association) is the central continuing education event for librarians and information specialists working in all types of medical and health science libraries in German-speaking countries. In the past few years there has been a decline in registration numbers. Moreover, it has become increasingly difficult to find conference venues, exhibitors and candidates for the AGMB board. To analyze and interpret the reasons for this trend, a member survey was conducted in 2019. Overall, the 169 survey participants agree with the conference format. In detail, the results offer a wide range of wishes and suggestions concerning the design and content of future conferences. The survey results also provide detailed insights into the participants' motivation for taking part in workshops between the conferences and for member engagement in the AGMB. An outline and interpretation of the survey results are given, followed by an outlook on the plenum discussion at the AGMB conference in Göttingen 2019 and on possible conclusions to be drawn for the AGMB.
Die Jahrestagung der Arbeitsgemeinschaft für medizinisches Bibliothekswesen e.V. (AGMB) ist traditionell die zentrale Fortbildungsveranstaltung für Bibliothekar*innen und Informationsspezialist*innen aus allen Bibliothekssparten im Bereich der Medizin und Gesundheitswissenschaften im deutschsprachigen Raum. In den vergangenen Jahren lassen sich rückläufige Zahlen für die Teilnahme an den Tagungen feststellen und es wird zunehmend schwierig, Tagungsorte, ausstellende Firmen und Kandidat*innen für den Vorstand zu finden. Um die Gründe hierfür analysieren zu können, wurde 2019 eine Online-Befragung der AGMB-Mitglieder durchgeführt. Insgesamt zogen die 169 Umfrageteilnehmer*innen zum Format der Tagung mehrheitlich ein positives Fazit. Im Detail lässt sich aus den Umfrageergebnissen eine Fülle von Wünschen und Anregungen für die inhaltliche und formale Gestaltung zukünftiger Tagungen ableiten. Ebenso geben die Ergebnisse Aufschluss über die Motivation der Teilnehmenden, Fortbildungsworkshops zwischen den Tagungen zu besuchen und sich in der AGMB zu engagieren. Die Umfrageergebnisse werden dargestellt und interpretiert. Anschließend wird ein Ausblick auf die Plenumsdiskussion bei der AGMB-Tagung 2019 in Göttingen sowie auf mögliche Konsequenzen für die Arbeit der AGMB gegeben.
