Il fascismo recensito: La ricezione della storiografia italiana sul fascismo tra guerra e dopoguerra

The essay analyzes the reception of Italian historiography on through the examination of book reviews and historiographical essays that appeared in France, West Germany, Great Britain and United States fascism in the period from the 1930s to the early 1980s. The article highlights how in general the Italian historiography on fascism had found a good international audience. As the reception of de Felice’s work shows the reception was marked by some differences among the different national historiographical communities, in particular between Unites States and West Germany. In this context the article confirms that the dialogue between German and Italian historiography has intensified during the ‘60 and ’70. The essay thus offers a contribution to the history of Italian historiography on fascism by relating it to the evolution of the process of founding "contemporary history” as an academic discipline in Italy.
