Abstract: The ineffectiveness under the guise of which constitutional law in Africa has long been appreciated deserves to be qualified and contextualized. Some authors consider in this regard that this ineffectiveness is more postulated than demonstrated. The 1990s, under the combination of several factors endogenous and exogenous to Africa, blew a new wind on the continent which is reflected in particularly in an effort of domestication, in domesticating and appropriating constitutional renewal by Africans. One of the grievances brought to constitutional writing in Africa would lie in the recourse to foreign (extra-African) expertise in the development of constitutions and thus corroborate the thesis of the authors denouncing a kind of externalism of African constitutions or the lack of identity of African constitutions. Partially founded, this thesis turns out to be limited and cannot be confined only to African states. The judgment of mimicry should be put into perspective, to the extent that Constitutions are inserted into a dynamic of circulation of constitutional principles and States can draw inspiration from successful experiences in other places without reproducing them in full. In Africa, recourse to extra-African foreign expertise is selective, especially since Africa has constitutionalist pilgrims. ; La ineficacia que ha supuestamente caracterizado durante mucho tiempo el trabajo sobre el derecho constitucional en África merece ser matizada y contextualizada.
