    • Abstract:
Introduction: in 2021, 25.2% of pregnant women were anemic, of which 2.8% were corrected with intravenous (IV) iron. The literature associates iron deficiency anemia with an increased incidence of maternal-fetal pathologies . To our knowledge, the studies conducted on IV supplementation during pregnancy have analyzed the efficacy and safety of the products, not the characteristics of these corrected women.Aims: to identify the individual and obstetrical characteristics of women suffering from anemia that require an IV treatment with Ferinject® during pregnancy. Methods: retrospective single-center non-randomized case-control study that compared a cohort of women delivered at the University hospital of Nice between 2019 and 2022, anemic corrected IV with Ferinject ® in the second or third trimester of pregnancy (cases) to a cohort of women delivered in the same conditions not anemic during pregnancy (controls). Results : 516 patients included (258 in each group). Women with anemia were younger (<20years, p=0.004), African/North African origin (p=0.001), with chronic anemia (p<0.0001), history of bariatric surgery of any type and any delay with pregnancy (p=0.02), higher gravidity ≥4 (p<0.001), later start of follow-up in hospital (p=0.01). If ferritin was identically measured in the first trimester, it was more often ≤12μg/L (p<0.00001). They were less often supplemented per os, but presented less compliance (p<0.00001). The incidence of pregnancy-related pathologies was globally identical except for urinary tract infections (p=0.01) and genital infections (p=0.002). No difference in neonatal morbidity was identified. Conclusion : the risk factors for anemia in general were not all found here. The anemic women corrected by Ferin-ject® had specific characteristics that could be easily identified during the first trimester of pregnancy, in particular by the martial assessment. Systematic determination of ferritin in early pregnancy could be considered. ; Introduction : en 2021, 25,2% des femmes ...
