Memory and discourse in practices of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) ; Memória e discurso em práticas da Congregação para a Doutrina da Fé

In this paper, we present the result from an analysis of the relation between meaning effects and memory effects in documents from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), and we also discuss the image this Congregation produces of itself through its documentation. Therefore, we started from the concept of Discourse Memory, which is linked to the French School of Discourse Analysis (AD), especially concerning Michel Pêcheux works and the notion of ethos, as presented by Dominique Maingueneau (2008). Based on this theoretical-methodological framework, we analyzed the materialization of a discourse memory in the documentation from CDF. Such memory starts working in the relation with the actuality, and then, constituting a discursive event, through a game of resumptions and reconfigurations related to the modus operandi from the Inquisition. ; Neste trabalho, apresentamos o resultado da análise da relação entre efeitos de sentido e efeitos de memória nos documentos da Congregação para a Doutrina da Fé (CDF) e, também, discutimos a imagem que a Congregação produz de si mesma por meio da sua documentação. Para tanto, baseamo-nos no conceito de memória discursiva, no âmbito da Escola Francesa de Análise de Discurso (AD), principalmente no que se refere aos trabalhos de Michel Pêcheux e na noção de ethos, conforme apresentada por Dominique Maingueneau (2008). Com base nesse arcabouço teórico-metodológico, analisamos a materialização de certa memória discursiva na documentação da CDF. Tal memória passa a funcionar na relação com uma atualidade, constituindo, assim, um acontecimento discursivo, por meio de um jogo de retomadas e reconfigurações em relação ao modus operandi da Inquisição.
