Abstract: Dear Editor, Ebola viral disease (EVD) is characterized by a febrile illness, with profound gastrointestinal manifestations, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and gastrointestinal bleeding, and is complicated by intravascular volume depletion, shock and profound electrolyte abnormalities and organ dysfunction. The hemorrhage of viral hemorrhagic fever is a late manifestation and occurs only in a minority of patients according to field physicians from West Africa (1).
