Instituciones de educación superior. una mirada desde las operaciones

Objective: This article aims to identify the current context of higher education institutions, as well as to characterize them as a type of service provider organization and define their operating system.Methodology: To achieve this objective, a bibliographic review of the subject under study was carried out and verification of thecharacteristics that make universities a service company and the particularities of their operations system was made. Results: it ispossible to identify that the literature in which HEIs are studied as organizations is limited. Conclusions: based on the survey carriedout, it can be concluded that they are service provider organizations that are part of the knowledge economy and that have a system ofoperations where inputs (inputs and resources) are converted into outputs (students trained, research carried out and interaction with the external sector). ; Objetivo: Este artículo tiene por objetivo identificar el contexto actualde las instituciones de educación superior, así como caracterizarlascomo organizaciones prestadoras de servicios e identificar susistema de operaciones. Metodología: Para alcanzar este objetivo separtió de una revisión bibliográfica y se hizo una verificación de lascaracterísticas que hacen de las universidades empresas de servicios ylas particularidades de su sistema de operaciones.
