    • Abstract:
      The current generation is part of a society imbued with knowledge and digital technology, such a context requires individuals whose educational training provides them with the weapons to meet this challenge, it is therefore a priority to develop through the educational process the characteristics inherent to this reality; however, most teachers have little knowledge and mastery of digital competence (DC), which represents an educational barrier, as it undermines the strengthening of scientific research skills in students. This reality defines the purpose of the present study, which is oriented to strengthen DC in teachers in order to strengthen research skills (RS) in students. For this purpose, research with similar variables was assumed, which was framed in the quantitative approach, basic type of correlational scope, and non-experimental design of transectional cut. In the collection of information, surveys were applied through a digital form to a sample of 200 university students, finding a significant relationship between the variables under study, which leads to the conclusion that DC in teachers is directly related to the development of RS in students. ; La generación actual es parte de una sociedad imbuida en el conocimiento y la tecnología digital, tal contexto requiere de individuos cuya formación educativa les proporcione las armas para hacer frente a este desafío, es por ello prioritario desarrollar a través del proceso educativo las características inherentes a esta realidad; sin embargo, los docentes presentan en su gran mayoría escaso conocimiento y dominio de la competencia digital (CD), lo cual representa una barrera educativa, pues merma el fortalecimiento de habilidades propias de la investigación científica en los estudiantes.
