Gran part del desenvolupament i l’expansió de la indústria forestal es deu a la contrareforma agrària duta a terme en el període dictatorial en què, a través del Decret Llei 701, es retornen terres a l’oligarquia i s’atorguen recursos estatals a empreses forestals. A partir d’aquest moment, l’Estat ha realitzat tot un seguit d’accions per protegir el patrimoni d’algunes famílies propietàries d’hisendes a Wallmapu. Aquestes estratègies de protecció han estat acompanyades de diverses formes de violència que s’han comès en aquests territoris i han afectat la vida quotidiana dels seus habitants. Així doncs, el present text revisa com es materialitzen aquestes formes de violència i posa de manifest la seva recurrència i gravetat. Amb aquest objectiu, s’hi distingeixen tres formes principals de violència: (1) física, (2) ecològica i (3) simbòlica. Aquest capítol pretén discutir sobre com es practiquen les estratègies repressives de l’Estat i sobre els actors que prenen part en aquestes lògiques, com ara les empreses. ; A great deal of the development and expansion of the forestry industry has taken place due to the agrarian counter-reformation implemented in the dictatorship era, by which —by virtue of Decree Law 701— lands were given back to the oligarchy and public resources were allocated to forestry companies. From then on, the state has implemented a series of actions to protect the property of several land-owning families in Wallmapu. These strategies of protection have gone hand in hand with different forms of violence that have been implemented in this territory and have affected the daily lives of its residents. Thus, this article deals with the ways in which these forms of violence are materialized and it sheds light on their re-occurrence and their severity. With this goal in mind, we distinguish three main forms of violence: (1) physical, (2) ecological, and (3) symbolic.
